What is a TelecomVisions Partner?

TelecomVisions.com Partners are people with expertise in the telecoms field who have been selected by staff of TelecomVisions. As Partners they take over 'ownership' of part of the TelecomVisions.com site and establish their own domain under their own name. For example, a selected Partner may be interested in the question of what will happen over the next five years to Internet access and service providers. The Partner may want to write an introduction to some of the main questions and debates. This introduction may be posted in the Current Events Zone. In the introduction participants may link to relevant papers by the Partner and others made available in the Articles Zone. Participants may also link to the relevant Workshop where they may give their own analyses, arguments and information. Furthermore, links may be made to relevant literature and other World Wide Web sites through the Key Resources Zone. The Partner may want to invite others to contribute, may want to organise conferences, discussions and debates.

Who will deal with the technical side?

All the Partner needs to do is e-mail the material to be put in his/her domain to the Webmaster of TelecomVisions.com and we will do the rest. For reasons both of quality maintenance and legal liability we will have to retain final authority for the material to be posted on the site. However, the assumption is that the selected Partners will run their domains under their own names and will therefore have the incentive to maintain the highest standards. Accordingly, the expectation is that there will be minimal interference with the Partner's decisions and content.

How will I benefit from becoming a TelecomVisions Partner?

Since the domain will be under your name you will get whatever credit is due for the contribution made in the domain. You will be able to benefit from the 'Linux Effect' which has inspired the creation of TelecomVisions.com – that is, you will be able to elicit co-operation from remotely located people around the world (many of whom you otherwise would not have come across) in analysing and collecting information about the field that you are interested in. Furthermore, you will be able to benefit from the considerable advantages provided by 'Internet Publishing' over 'Print Publishing'. For example, you will be able to: update your papers almost instantly; link them to other papers and sites; conduct almost-real-time conferences, debates, and discussions; invite contributions from other specialists and get immediate feedback; add your own publications and papers to the bibliography in the Key Resources Zone as well as those of others in your field; use your domain for your teaching, as your 'calling card'; etc. In short, you will be able to facilitate the collective creation of knowledge in your chosen field and, since the domain is under your own name, derive whatever credit is due for having taken this innovative initiative.
