MAPPING ZONE |
| PURPOSE: In this zone three maps of the
global telecoms industry are developed in order to analyse the boundaries of the
industry and to show how it has been affected by the internet and by
convergence. |
| CONTENT: Map 1 presents the basic layer
model of the industry and is divided into an equipment and network layer and
three layers providing services. Map 2 shows the various products and services
that are to be found in each layer. Map 3 examines the kinds of companies that
are to be found. The three map diagrams are preceded by a discussion of the
layer model and an analysis of what happens in each layer. |
